ORIGINAL BESWICK SALT & PEPPER SET

One of the items of Laurel and Hardy merchandise we have often been asked to date and price is the Laurel and Hardy salt and pepper pot set. These are getting harder to find, now that people have realised how collectable they are, but they do still come up for sale at on Internet auction sites, and at Collector Fairs. So how much are they worth? Well, you can expect to pay £55-£75 pounds, but beware:- the complete set comprises a Stan salt, an Ollie pepper, and a oval shaped tray that they sit in. Some are on sale without the tray, which drastically lowers their value.

BESWICK Laurel and Hardy SALT AND PEPPER SET

Look for the makers name on the bottom. It should say: “Beswick.” As for how old they are, we can’t tell you exactly, but we do know for an absolute certainty that they were around in 1952. How do we know? Well take a very close look at the photograph below of Stan and Babe having dinner at the Bull Inn, Bottesford. It was taken on Easter Sunday, 13 April 1952.  Can you see what we’re talking about?

Your chance to own an old ORIGINAL collectible. I do come across sets from time to time, so email me to see if I have any:
