Publicity press sheets or Pressbooks were compiled by the distributor of the movie to help promote the film to the general public and indeed create local interest. These were sent out to the exhibitors (cinema managers) so they could use it to get ideas.
The pressbook would contain everything he needed to know, ideas for local competitions, advertising material that could be ordered such as standees, stills, posters and more.
They even contained articles that the manager could send to local newspapers, some even had colouring competitions for the kids.
Original pressbooks in good condition are very rare and do not turn up often for sale, as the general public never intended to be seen by the general public. Here we present a selection of lobby cards and selected pages from the FLYING DEUCES pressbook. Just click on the thumbnails to enlarge.
